Dr. Rocco Fiato is Chief Technology Officer at Accelergy, and advanced alternative fuels company utilizing exciting Gas-to-Liquids and Coal-to-Liquids technology, as well as algae photo bioreactors. Dr. Fiato has over 25 years of experience in strategic planning and intellectual property management from the Oil and Gas industries. Dr. Fiato held various senior positions at Exxon’s Corporate Science Laboratories and executive staff positions in ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company, including Technical Advisor to ExxonMobil Law Department, where he coordinated major gas-to-liquids (GTL) patent litigation cases before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He was the Head of Competitive Assessment in the Gas Processes Division of the Engineering Department and, most recently, Intellectual Property Manager of the GTL Technology Division. Dr. Fiato managed the development of corporation-wide IP strategy and the enforcement and licensing of 3500+ patents in ExxonMobil’s GTL Technology portfolio.

Dr. Fiato has served as Chairman of Energy Frontiers International (EFI) and Finance Chairman of the Natural Gas Conversion Board (NGCB) since 2005. He is also a member of American Chemical Society, a corresponding member of SAE and has been actively involved in programs for DOE, NSF and National Research Council. Dr. Fiato is a named inventor on more than 65 US and 250 issued or pending foreign patents and has published over 42 industry publications on a range of catalytic processes.

Dr. Fiato is a named inventor on more than 68 US patents and 280 issued or pending foreign patents. He has published over 44 scientific publications on a range of catalytic processes for CO2 utilization, high temperature oxidation chemistry and natural gas and coal conversion to fuels and petrochemicals.

Dr. Fiato received his Ph.D. Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Rochester and BS in Physical Organic Chemistry from Clarkson College in New York.
